STATUS QUO

Our Team is formed by 5 members from different semesters.

Part of the Team was Alexander von Eickstedt (UWA 6th sem.), who is a half-greek-half-german student with German roots, Lea Helferich (HSU 4th sem.) as well as Robin Muster (HSU 4th sem.) and Tina Schradin (HSU 4th sem.), three german students from Ulm and Nikoleta Tourlouki (UWA 4th sem.), a greek student from Athens. Our Group decided to be an activist group named "yeah“.

Every team member has skills in illustration. Because of this we created many illustrations of the city and characters. Four of our members already have made some animations during their studies.

IDEA

We as a Greek-German design student team would like to improve the public image of Exarchia. A neighborhood that is well known for its street art, high crime and drugs. However, the identification of the residents in Exarchia should be maintained and supported.

MESSAGE

Street Art is a big part of the image of Exarchia and our activist group wants to maintain this character. Street art should contribute to make the part of Athens more beautiful. The message of our activist group „yeah” is to clean the neighborhood of Exarchia and to make it safer and more attractive. Because of this the different avatar in our animation shows how it could look like if our activist group cleans the streets.

CONCEPT

The characters are supposed to look colorful, unique and they should fit in Exarchia. They symbolize members of our imaginary social activist group. The environment should look and feel unfriendly and not lively at first. But after the characters performed their actions it changes and gets colorful, friendly and lively. The mood has changed with the characters playing music to bring the people in Exarchia together. They are planting trees and bringing nature to the city to make it more lively.

They are cleaning the streets so that the people and especially families are feeling safe in the neighborhood. All of this action and impressions are supported by gravity witch appears in the background.
